Chris Brown Turns Himself In To Police


Singer voluntarily turned himself late Sunday; had not been charged at press time.

A representative for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to MTV
News late Sunday (February that Chris Brown is in custody at the
Wilshire Police Station, in connection with an alleged domestic violence felony battery report.
The singer voluntarily turned himself in to be questioned. He had not
been arrested or charged over the incident at press time, according to
an information officer, who declined to identify the injured party in
the alleged assault.




According to The Associated Press, the LAPD said in a
release that the 19-year-old R&B singer and an unidentified woman
were in a vehicle in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles early
Sunday when they began arguing.
The Los Angeles Times reported late Sunday that "sources familiar with the investigation" said the victim in the attack was singer Rihanna, although that information was unconfirmed at press time.
Police said Brown and the woman got out of the car and the
argument escalated; the woman reportedly identified Brown as her
attacker. Officers said Brown was not present at the scene when they
arrived. People.com reported that the woman suffered visible injuries.
A rep for Brown had not responded to MTV News' requests for comment at press time.
According to Entertainment Weekly's Web site,
Rihanna and Brown were involved in a car accident
early Sunday; a rep for her would not confirm or deny the accident,
saying only that "Rihanna is well. Thank you for the care and support."
MTV News' attempts to reach Brown's spokesperson for comment on the matter were unsuccessful.
It was announced Sunday night that neither Rihanna nor Chris Brown would appear at the Grammy Awards as scheduled.

Chris Brown has officially been booked into the custody of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Brown has been charged with one count felony criminal threats. His bail has been set at $50,000.

UPDATE 11:42 PM EST: TMZ has learned Chris paid his bail and was released.

A week after an alleged violent incident with Rihanna the night before the Grammy Awards, Chris Brown has spoken out.

“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired,” he said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person.”

With dozens of differing reports on the details of Brown’s alleged assault on Rihanna running wild this week, the “Kiss Kiss” singer said many of them were false.

“Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong,” he continued. “While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds.”

Brown is under investigation by the LAPD for felony criminal threat and allegedly bit and hit Rihanna, who is currently home in Barbados, according to People.

Access has learned that Brown has hired public relations firm Sitrick and Company, who sent the statement. According to its Web site, the company has represented Kim Basinger, Michael Vick, Wesley Snipes and Toni Braxton, among others.

Disgraced R&B star Chris Brown has made his first statement following his alleged beating of superstar girlfriend Rihanna - he posted an update on his private Facebook page reading: "You'll begin to see her true colors. Believe it!"

And it seems that the troubled singer has confirmed his split from the Barbadian beauty by changing his relationship status to 'single'.

Brown's comment appears to suggest Rihanna, 20, is partly to blame for the alleged attack which left her with heavy bruising, scratches and bite marks.


In his profile picture, Brown is seen hugging a mystery brunette while smiling and pulling her leg across his body.

The private page - listed under his full name Christopher Maurice Brown - has been exposed by mediatake-out.com.

It is separate to his public Facebook and MySpace pages used by his fans and lists his contact details as Jive Records, in New York.

Neither Brown, 19, nor Rihanna have been seen publicly since the alleged punch up in a Los Angeles street following a pre-Grammy party on Sunday night.

The Umbrella singer has made no statement, although legions of concerned fans have flooded her MySpace page with messages of support.

Rumours are swirling that Brown had been cheating on his girlfriend of 12 months, and a 'booty call' text message sparked a heated argument as the pop power couple drove back to their L.A. hotel.

The message, which reportedly angered Rihanna, was from a female who talked about getting together with the 'Kiss Kiss' singer.

The row escalated into violence, which left Rihanna needing hospital treatment.

Police have charged Brown with making criminal threats, and more serious charges could follow.

Chris Brown Doesn't "Got Milk"; CoverGirl Stands by Rihanna

A rap sheet doesn't do a body good—particularly Chris Brown.

The folks behind the popular "Got Milk?" spots have announced they're dropping the R&B star from their celeb roster, two days after Brown was busted for allegedly roughing up Rihanna.

Brown was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats, but the district attorney has not formally charged him. He is free on $50,000 bail

"The Milk Mustache campaign is taking the allegations against Chris Brown very seriously," the Body by Milk Campaign said in a statement. "We are very proud and protective of the image of the Milk Mustache campaign and the responsible message it sends to teens."

The "Say Goodbye" singer began donning the mustache in spots last fall. In a case of auspicious timing (or so Body by Milk insists), the ads were due to stop running this week.

On Monday, Wrigley Chewing Gum stopped running all ads featuring Brown touting Doublemint. And the NBA announced that he would not be participating in this weekend's All-Star Game festivities in Phoenix. It's also doubtful he'll show up for Thursday's NAACP Image Awards, for which he and Rihanna are both nominated.

While Brown is losing air time, Rihanna will still be featured as part of a massive CoverGirl campaign.

The cosmetics company said it would continue running TV and print ads starring the 20-year-old "Live Your Life" chanteuse but declined to comment on the situation. "Out of respect for our CoverGirls, we do not share information regarding their personal lives."

The singer, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was released from Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after being treated for bruises, cuts and what appeared to be bite marks on her body.

She is apparently still in Los Angeles and reportedly helping authorities with their ongoing investigation into the incident. She did, however, postpone a sold-out gig scheduled for Friday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and her 21st birthday party celebration set for Feb. 20 in New York.

Neither she nor Brown has publicly commented on the incident.
