Us Magazine It's official: The Hills is returning this fall without star Lauren Conrad , MTV announced today.

Heidi Montag , Audrina Patridge , Spencer Pratt , Brody Jenner , Stephanie Pratt , Lo Bosworth, Justin Bobby and "fresh faces," will be back, the network teases in a statement.

"Spencer and Heidi will be newlyweds, so the stakes are higher than ever before for the two to make things work," adds MTV. "Viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before."

Earlier this month, Montag -- who wed on Saturday -- told MTV News she'd "miss" Conrad -- but not too much.

"I just don't know if we need her," she said. "I know she hasn't been wanting to be doing this for a while, and [the life she really leads] is not on camera. So I think it's a closing chapter for her. I'm sure she'll have fun and success."

When asked if The Hills could survive without Conrad, Patridge told Us: "Yes, we're like family to our audience."

Conrad -- who is designing a new line for Kohl's -- told Us in March that the decision to leave was "bittersweet.

"I've spent the last five years making every decision be about the show," she added.

Conrad's 'Laguna Beach' rival heads to 'The Hills'Associated Press - May 14, 2009 12:14 PM PDT

Now that Conrad has left the hit MTV reality series, Kristin Cavallari (Cahv-UH'-lahr-ee) is taking her place.

MTV publicist Emily Yeomans (YOH'-muhns) confirms Cavallari will replace Conrad on the show. The season-five finale on May 31 marks Cavallari's "Hills" debut.

The 22-year-old aspiring actress caught the bouquet at the April 25 wedding of the series' duo, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. The event was filmed by MTV.

Cavallari became a celebrity in 2004 when MTV tracked her high school love life and rivalry with Conrad on the reality show "Laguna Beach."

Great so they are making it worse with another bitch. I already can't stand most of the people on that show except LC, now they take her away and add more evil to the mix, this should be interesting.

I read on E! online that Frankie D, Brodie's BFF is dating "Stacey", the girl who got in between Spencer and Heidi this season. Odd how they all seem to be connected. Also Holly, Heidi's sister told E! that she thinks Kristin will be better for the Hills then LC, because Kristin is more entertaining in terms of Reality TV and Lc was too conservative. But Apparently Audrina can't stand Kristin, so there maybe be hope for her yet.

Lauren tells the view that the apology from Spencer was faked, that she wasn't on the other end of the phone and didn't see the apology until the show aired.
